Thank You Mr. Paine
Whether you have lived in Trussville for thirty years or just three months, you have probably heard of “Ned Paine”. If you have not heard of Edgar K. Paine you have at least been affected in some way by his leadership and commitment to the city of Trussville. Ned and his wife Goldie have been active and generous members of the community for a number of years. Beginning with his founding of Amerex Corporation in Trussville. Since1970, Ned has been the president and CEO of Amerex until his retirement in 1999. During his many years in the fire protection business, Ned has participated in the development of national fire/safety laws. As a leader in the industry for over thirty years, he has held positions as president of The Fire Equipment Manufacturers’ Association, director on various boards of National Fire Equipment Distributors. The National Fire Protection Association, legislative committees, and other organizations have afforded him the opportunity and honor to work toward better fire protection both in the United States and internationally.
Ned’s concern and devotion for the community is certainly evident through his involvement in the Trussville City schools. He was instrumental in initiating the “Adopt-a-School” program in Jefferson County by donating thousands of dollars annually to the schools in Trussville. Goldie and Ned donated approximately 38 acres of land to be used specifically for the development and construction of the new Paine Elementary Campus. Most recently he served as a charter member of the 2004-2005 Trussville Board of Education. Ned has been an integral part of establishing Trussville City Schools as an independent school system. Our community and new school system will be forever indebted to Ned and Goldie for his tremendous generosity and willingness to make education a priority in Trussville. |
